Web 2.0 can be seen as an improved software in a sense that with 2.0 it is n improved version of web 1.0.web 2.0 brings with it new features which has made the web more user friendly and open sourced.
Bryan Alexander says the three main concepts of web 2.0 are,

Social software-blogs, podcasting, videoblogs.
Micro content
Openness

Alexander also says ” taken together, this set of concepts informs a way of making, sharing, and consuming digital documents” that pinpoint to an emergent group of practices that are crucially more important than any label can account for.
Leading sites, which propelled web 2.0, have been sites like flickr, You tube, Wikipedia and blogging sites.
These sites gave users control on what content was put up and formed online communities.

Urban Classic was a meeting of musical cultures that brought together some of the biggest names in UK black music with the BBC Concert Orchestra in a ground-breaking live event.

Grime producer DaVinChe and jazz musician Jason Yarde joined forces with conductor Charles Hazlewood, who lead a 36-piece BBC Concert Orchestra alongside several UK grime artists, to create a 70-minute musical suite of grime, hip hop and classical music.

Genre-crossing collaborations can be a real hit and miss affair and the rock and rap fusion teeters on the edge of genius and heinous. The Americans have been mixing things up musically since Run DMC and Aerosmith in 1986, but the UK urban and indie scene have traditionally remained poles apart.

Then in 2006, London producer Statik turned out a couple of quality grime re-workings of Bloc Party and The Rakes tracks and everyone started hopping up and down in excitement. Statik promptly jumped on the positive feedback by coining the term "grindie" and releasing a mixtape where he threw grime MCs over Larrikin Love and Ladyfuzz tracks and had Pete Doherty handling the shout-outs. Statik declared that grindie was a new "movement" but there was something slightly incoherent and synthetic about the sound. In a time when music fans are searching for unprocessed singer-songwriters like Lily Allen and Mika, the cut-and-paste nature of grindie felt slightly uncomfortable.

Fast forward to 2007 and a new brand of grindie has slowly begun to emerge. Bands and artists who are genuinely influenced by both genres are giving birth to an energetic hybrid of grime and punk and the indie kids are eating it up.

Because most of grime tunes are mainly released in limited records shops many fans use the net to find and download they songs. To do this there are many choices from programmes like lime wire where u can find more of the popular tunes to uploading sites where u can request types of tunes or upload tunes for your friends or others to download.
The main sites that do this are rapid share and send spaces, these sites are the main sites used by many people in forums to upload tunes for others.

As grime spread online, artist began looking at other ways in which they cold get they music heard were promoting them self’s at the same time. In step Myspace an online website which allowed any and everyone to upload whatever on they own personal page.
Many grime artists did this uploading images and videos and songs of them perform in the hope of promoting them and they music. This proved to be a good move and soon MySpace was filled with artists, Djs, produces and music companies and people trying to break though and meet others in the scene. This allowed people to meet others involved and networking around the scene become easier.

When grime started to make waves in the U.K the main medium for its outlet was pirate radio stations where Mcs and produces would play they tunes and rap of some beats, hitting listening within the radio range. The popularity of the music saw more stations pop up all over the U.K. "The emergence of grime is intrinsically connected to its origins on UK pirate radio, with many performers honing their skills and achieving underground success before approaching the mainstream". After this success these stations moved online in the form of internet radio, where the Djs and Mcs could interact with the listeners thought email and msn. Listeners could also watch the Djs and though a web cam set up on stations websites. This lead the way for other well known grime radio stations to go online too.

For this research project i plan to look at and document the growth and development of the Grime music scene though the internet.

wikipedia has a page on the grime scene where it talks about the origins and development of the music."Grime is a sub-genre of urban music which first emerged in London in the early 2000s, primarily a development of UK garage, drum and bass, dancehall and hip hop.[1] The music is typified by sparse and minimalist 2step breakbeats, generally around 130-140 beats per minute, and an aggressive and fast rapping style - often in double time"

This week we learned how to use RSS feeds (Real simple syndication). After logging on bloglines, I set up an account and thought the site I am able to subscribe to people blogs. Which enables news and me to keep up to date which they new posts.

RSS feeds are good for students, teachers and businesss, webblogs generate a behind the scenes code in a language similar to HTLM called XML. This code usually referred to as a feed. As is true with traditional syndication, the content comes to you instead of you going to get it.

We also watched and learnt about web 2.0, leaning the changes to the net which gave the user more control and saw the internets open source being used in new and ground breaking ways. Web 2.0 has seen a rise in an online community where people from all over can get together and connect.
